This platform is built on outstanding open Japanese-language resources. Thank you to their maintainers.

The Japanese-English dictionary data that underpins our vocabulary and kanji entries originates from the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group's JMdict and KANJIDIC projects.

Most of the example sentences on our N4 and N3 vocabulary entries are human-written Japanese–English pairs from the Tanaka Corpus, distributed by EDRDG and underlying the Tatoeba project. We select and filter them; we do not write them.

JLPT-levelled vocabulary lists (based on Jonathan Waller's JLPT resources).

Kanji dataset with updated JLPT N-levels, derived from KANJIDIC.

The stroke-order animations on our kanji pages are drawn from KanjiVG's stroke path data. Shared under the same licence — see the KanjiVG site for the full terms.
